What to Know - House bill 8

Kentucky House Bill 8, passed in 2022, and effective January 1, 2023, requires third-party rental companies such as VRBO, Airb&b, and other booking sites to collect the 3% trainset lodging tax and remit it to the governing city/county. Rentals within the city limits remit tax collected to Grand Rivers City Hall, PO Box 265, 155 West Cumberland Avenue, Grand Rivers, KY 42045, on a monthly basis. It is the sole responsibility of the individual or company renting units to assure that the third-party remits the taxes to the correct office.

Additionally, a “Grand Rivers Lodging Tax Form”, must be provided to City Hall each month, by the owner of the property or by the company, stating the amount of taxes collected and remitted, the month of collection, along with the third-party’s/online rental company’s name and information remitting the taxes. Failure to remit the “Lodging Tax Form” with the required information will result in your property not being credited with tax remittance.
